And just like that, we have stepped into yet another year. There are different ways to look at New Year’s Day, which one resonates most with you?
- A New Year’s Day is just another day
- Every day is a New Year’s Day
I find inclined towards the second – towards the present, the now. Just like the blooms in our garden. blooming today, fallen tomorrow, budding again. I want to treat every day as a new day; more so as a new year’s day. Every morning as a chance to reset the old and set intentions for the day ahead. What do you think?
The occasion of 31st December or 1st January does nudge reflections on the past year and setting intentions for the year ahead. This year, I spent the first day of the year in a Mindful Morning session on the farm. One of the reflection activities during the session was to write a letter to oneself. I think I did go overboard in it and filled a whole page with everything I wanted to let go from the past year and everything that I wanted to embrace and work towards in this new year.
My Intentions for 2024
In my role, as an educator and farmer, one of my intentions for this year is to deepen my relationship with food. Breaking it down, it broadly looks like these 3 points:
- More mini-mindful moments when planting, harvesting, and cooking
- More of farm-to-table meals with local and seasonal food
- More connections with people to guide their food journeys
We had recently harvested some ginger from the farm and I had prepared warm ginger lemon tea for everyone who came. It was a cool morning and wrapped in my shawl with a cup of warm tea in my hands, I felt abundant. I felt loved.
Wishing everyone a happy and healthy new year!
May this year be full of opportunities to love and to be loved.
